About Hope Youth
Hope Youth is a non-profit organisation working with young people (11-25 years old) in the southwest of Christchurch (Rolleston, West Melton, and Hornby). It was originally established by Hope Presbyterian who have a long history of faithfully serving its communities. We are passionate about connecting with young people, journeying alongside them and empowering each one to develop into the best people they can be.
We do this through presence based youth work at schools, mentoring and running programmes that impact relationships, leadership development, cultural diversity and community connections. Our Mission is to nurture the whole young person, building purpose, wellbeing, meaning and vision for community involvement. At the schools, we also develop relationships with and support teachers while providing a wider holistic support network for students.
The primary purpose of the Youth Worker is to build hope into the lives of youth, inspiring the next generation of community leaders. We encourage and strengthen students in leadership roles, seeking to create a safe and fun environment where the school’s vision and values are promoted. We employ well trained, caring Youth Workers who are supported by a network of experienced and passionate volunteers.
Hope Youth is governed by the Youth SouthWestTrust. Each trustee offers a passion for young people alongside their professional skills, business and community leadership experience. We work to our strategic plan, collaborating with community development groups and gaining input from other leaders who share our vision for young people. The Trust is supported with robust administrative and financial systems. Profiles of our Trustees follow.
